The Widnes Vikings look set to break a string of records this week when they go head to head with Northern Rail Cup Finalists Salford City Reds at the Stobart Stadium.
With tickets going well for the North Stand, and less than 1000 tickets left for the South Stand the Club are hopeful of a huge crowd in front of the Sky TV cameras, the record National League crowd stands at 8,078 at The Jungle when Castleford played Hull KR in 2005, but the Vikings have laid on such a feast of entertainment that they could beat that this week and write themselves into the record books.
The evening gets underway at 6.15pm with a year-7 curtain-raiser between Wade Deacon and Sts Peter Paul girls. At 7:00 pm in what is probably the largest choir ever to perform at a Rugby League Match over 2,000 children will form part of the Vikings' choir based in the West Stand. This unique event has been organised by Vikings in the Community and The Valhalla Foundation.
Prior to the game there will be performances by the Stobart Dancers whilst at half-time the Liverpool Stagecoach Theatre School will take centre stage.
Then you can witness the World’s Fastest Pizza delivery as the Red Devils Parachute Display team literally drop-in with a Domino's Pizza for one fan and a £1000 cheque for the first monthly winner of the Vikings' Dream Ticket lottery.
The Red Devil’s team members are widely regarded as among the best display parachutists in the world! Seven of them, dressed in Domino’s Pizza uniform and deploying a 100 square foot Domino’s pizza flag, will jump from an altitude of up to 10,000ft. Trailing smoke to demonstrate their speed and movement, the highly-skilled skydivers will freefall at speeds of up to 120mph, before deploying their parachutes. Once safely under canopy, the team members will land in the Stadium and deliver a delicious, piping hot Domino’s Pizza to one lucky fan in the crowd.
So come on down to the Stobart Stadium and witness this spectacular feast of entertainment for yourselves.
